Two of the lesser understood APIs created as part of the ELMS distribution are User Progress API and Requirement Dashboard.  User progress is a generic way of collecting data points about users.  It has Views integration (not shown here) as well as Requirement Dashboard integration.

Requirement Dashboard API is a way of defining and routing information to specialized drupal pages to provide “heads up” style information.  It has support for Organic groups and high level looks at the system and is intended to allow you to push information you want to managers and other non-admins that might want a dashboard to see what’s going on.

User progress comes packaged with an integration point to visualize its information on Requirement Dashboards, which is shown in this screencast.
